Melissa Camacho is a Licensed Acupuncturist, Diplomate of Oriental Medicine and Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner. She began studying complementary medicine in 2001 as an aromatherapy buyer at a health food store in Boston, MA. At that time, she was introduced to Vinyasa Yoga and meditation. This avenue of study led naturally to the discovery of Ayurveda, Yoga’s sister science. In 2004, she became an Ayurvedic apprentice at 7 Centers Yoga Arts in Sedona, AZ and cooked Ayurvedically for large groups, such as Sedona Meditation (now, the McLean Meditation Institute).
In 2005, she studied Ayurveda more formally with Dr. Vasant Lad of the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM. Upon graduating from the second year of the program, she began a clinical practice of Ayurveda and taught workshops on the subject in both Arizona and New Mexico.
Melissa's love for natural medicine blossomed further in 2008 when she began studying acupuncture, moxabustion, and Chinese herbs at Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, NM. Her knowledge of elemental medicine, herbs, and wealth of clinical experience enabled her to obtain a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine in 2011 and paved the way to study Chinese Medicine in China at Heilongjing University of Chinese Medicine. She currently has her clinical practice in Sedona, AZ. When not in clinic Melissa contributes regularly to various yoga and health newsletters and magazines.
