Acupuncture

Acupuncture traces its roots back thousands of years to ancient China, where it emerged as a core component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The practice is based on the concept of Qi (pronounced “chee”), the vital life force that flows through pathways, or meridians, in the body. Early practitioners observed that stimulating certain points along these meridians could influence the flow of Qi, restoring balance and addressing a wide variety of health concerns. Over centuries, acupuncture has evolved and been refined, yet its foundational principles remain deeply respected worldwide. Today, acupuncture is embraced globally as a safe, effective, and holistic therapy, valued both for its history and its adaptability to modern wellness needs.

Acupuncture is a time-honored healing practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, gaining recognition in the West for its gentle yet profound effects on health and well-being. For those new to acupuncture or sensitive to needles, it’s reassuring to know that the needles used are extremely thin—much finer than those used for injections—and are designed to cause minimal or no discomfort. Most clients describe the sensations as relaxing or barely noticeable. Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points on the body to restore balance, relieve pain, and promote natural healing processes.

About Melissa Camacho

Melissa Camacho's acupuncture treatments are customized to one's needs and health condition.  She may use electric stimulation (millicurrent and microcurrent), moxibustion, Rapid Release Technology therapy, non-insertive needling techniques, cupping, injections, and acupressure in her treatments.  Her style combines Japanese Acupuncture, Master Tung, and TCM, tailored to each client's constitution and current health.

Melissa Camacho is a Licensed Acupuncturist, Diplomate of Oriental Medicine, NAMA Certified Āyurvedic Doctor, and teacher of Āyurveda. She began her study of the healing modalities in 2001 as an aromatherapy buyer and shortly thereafter was introduced to Vinyasa yoga and meditation by Baron Baptiste. This naturally led to the discovery of Āyurveda. In 2004, she became an Āyurvedic apprentice at 7 Centers Yoga Arts in Sedona, AZ and began to cook Āyurvedically for larger groups.
In 2005, she studied Āyurveda more formally with Dr. Vasant Lad of the Āyurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM. Upon graduating from the second year of the program (ASP2), she began a clinical practice of Āyurveda and taught workshops in both Arizona and New Mexico.
Melissa's love for medicine blossomed further in 2008 when she began studying Traditional Chinese Medicine and Japanese Acupuncture at Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, NM. Her knowledge and clinical experience enabled her to obtain a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine in 2011 and paved the way to study Traditional Chinese Medicine in Harbin, China at Heilongjing University of Chinese Medicine. She became board certified (NCCAOM) and licensed in the State of Arizona in 2012.

Her passion and thirst for Āyurveda continues as most recently, she graduated from ĀYU Academy as a Svastha Āchārya after 3 years of studying Classical Āyurveda as well as Sanskrit with Dr. Jessica Vallela, BAMS. Furthermore, she continues to study Sanskrit with the amazing Antonia Ruppel via the gem of the online resource, YogicStudies.com.  She is the owner of Sedona Sol Acupuncture and Āyurveda in Sedona,AZ where daily she practices both Āyurveda and Chinese Medicine. She specializes in pain management, women’s health, covid recovery support, and nutrition.

From her 15 plus years of clinical experience, Melissa’s strength as a clinician is being able to see the bigger picture of health in the context of humanhood of modern life. She investigates the body skillfully and is able to precisely guide her patients from a place of disease to a place of support.  Health becomes a natural biproduct when the body and mind are properly supported by medicine, nutrition, movement, soul calling, and soul expression. Melissa is able to counsel her patients on these aspects of being. Her patients call her “intuitive, compassionate, knowledgeable, and gifted.” In her off time, she is an avid karaoke singer and lover of Lucy, her clinic doggy. She is also the board president of Growing Peaceful Hearts, a non-profit organization dedicated to peace and mindfulness education in elementary and high schools (https://www.yogaforbighearts.com/).
